Guide Fireboy and Watergirl through the crystal temple in this co-op puzzle platformer with light beams and switches. Play free in your browser.
Fireboy & Watergirl 4 Crystal Temple is a cooperative puzzle-platformer built around two characters who need each other to get anywhere. Fireboy walks through fire and Watergirl swims through water, and every stage is a small obstacle course with an exit door for each of them. Neither can finish alone, so a level is really a conversation about who goes first and who waits on a switch.
This fourth chapter moves the pair into a crystal temple, and the new twist is light. Beams of light, mirrors and crystal-activated mechanisms join the usual buttons, levers and moving platforms. A session feels slower and more thoughtful than a pure jumper, which is why it suits players who like Doodle Jump's simple one-more-try rhythm but want something to think about between jumps.
Movement uses the arrow keys or WASD, and on a phone you tap and swipe. In the series, one character takes the arrow keys and the other takes WASD, so two people can share one keyboard. Playing alone, you switch between the two characters and move each one into place.
The core rules are the same throughout the series. Fire is safe for Fireboy and deadly for Watergirl, water is the reverse, and the green goo hurts both of them. Collect the gems that match each character, then get both of them to their doors to clear the stage. If either one falls into the wrong hazard, the level restarts.
If you want the original formula, the site also has Fireboy and Watergirl, which has the same two-character setup without the light mechanics. Ovo 2 and OvO game are precision platformers you play solo, where the challenge is fast, exact jumping, not teamwork. Bird Jumper and Hoppenhelm are lighter vertical-hopping games that don't ask you to plan.
It runs in the browser with nothing to install. It's best on a keyboard with a friend beside you, though a solo run works if you don't mind switching between characters.
Yes. In this series one player uses the arrow keys and the other uses WASD, so both can share one keyboard.
Water is dangerous to Fireboy and fire is dangerous to Watergirl. The green goo hurts both of them. Each one can safely cross its own element.
Yes. You move both characters yourself, switching between them to hold switches and cross hazards.
The page supports tapping and swiping on a phone, but a keyboard is easier for controlling two characters.
