Tower Merge is a tower defense game with a twist: you don't just place towers, you combine them. Enemies march toward your base, you build defenders, and two matching towers can be fused into a stronger one. Most of the game is deciding whether to spend your money on another tower or hold it back to merge what you already have.

It's a change of pace from the bouncing and climbing that Doodle Jump fans usually come here for. Sessions are short and you play with the mouse, so it suits a few spare minutes between runs of the jumpers. It runs in the browser with nothing to install.

How to play

Click the build button to put a new tower on the field. To merge, click and hold a tower and drag it onto another one to combine them into a more powerful defender. Poki's description of the game names these two actions as its controls. On a phone the same actions work by tapping and dragging. The keyboard isn't needed.

A round is a loop. You build, the enemies advance, and your towers fire on their own while you keep building and merging. You aren't aiming shots, so your attention goes to the layout: which towers are on the field, which can be combined next, and whether you have room for another.

Tips

• Merge as soon as you have a pair. A fused tower is a better use of a slot than two weak ones.
• Keep the field tidy. Space is limited, and scattered low-level towers leave you with no room to build.
• Watch the lane, not the towers. If enemies are getting close, spend on defense before you spend on anything else.
