Grapple Grip is a free browser platform puzzler by Robert Alvarez: grapple, swing and plan your route room by room. Play it online, no download needed.
Grapple Grip is a small platform puzzler built around a single verb: grab onto a surface and pull yourself up. Instead of leaping from ledge to ledge the way you do in Doodle Jump, you work out where your grapple can latch on, and each screen turns into a short problem about reaching the exit.
It is listed on Poki as the work of Robert Alvarez, a developer who makes a lot of compact one-idea puzzle platformers. A session here is quick: a room, a few failed attempts, a restart, and then the moment the route clicks. It runs in the browser with nothing to install, and it works on desktop, phone and tablet.
If you came to this site for Doodle Jump's constant upward climbing, this is the slower, thinking-first cousin. Height still matters, but timing and planning matter more than reflexes.
Move left and right with A and D or the left and right arrow keys. Press W or the up arrow to fire the grapple. Press R to reset the current room when you are stuck or have made a mistake, and Esc to go back. On a phone or tablet, use the on-screen touch controls instead of the keyboard.
The loop is simple: look at the layout, find a surface you can grab, grapple, and use the momentum to reach somewhere you could not walk to. When a plan fails, reset right away rather than trying to recover. Resets are cheap, and a fresh attempt is usually faster than rescuing a bad swing.
For another puzzle-flavoured platformer, try Ovo 2 or OvO game, which lean on precise running and jumping through obstacle courses. Fireboy and Watergirl swaps the grapple for two characters who have to cooperate to clear each room. Bird Jumper and Helix Jump are closer to the original: faster, simpler and more about rhythm.
Grapple Grip suits short breaks and players who like to think a move through. It rewards patience more than quick fingers, so it also works well on a touch screen.
