Max and Mink is a free browser puzzle platformer: guide two characters to the exit, stack them to climb and solve each level.

Max and Mink is a pixel-art puzzle platformer about getting two small animals to the exit of each level together. Neither can do it alone: the puzzles come from using one character to help the other, and the most memorable trick is stacking them so the one on top can reach a ledge that was out of range.

That makes it a different kind of jumper from the rest of Doodle Jump's catalogue. Doodle Jump is about reflexes and an endless climb. Here a level has a fixed layout, there is no clock pressure from rising lava or a falling floor, and the challenge is working out the order of moves. A session suits a few minutes of thinking more than a burst of twitchy play.

How to play

Use the arrow keys or WASD to move, and the mouse to aim and select. On a phone or tablet you tap and swipe instead. Levels ask you to get both characters to the exit, and along the way you will meet switches that open the path and gaps or walls that need the pair to cooperate.

Each level is a small spatial puzzle. Look at the whole screen before you move, find the exit, then work backwards: what is blocking the way, and which of the two characters could deal with it?

Tips

Before moving, find every switch and ledge. Most levels have one intended order, and a wrong first step can leave a character stranded.
If you get stuck, think about stacking. A height you cannot jump alone may be easy with the other character as a step.
If you have trapped a character, restart the level instead of fighting it. Levels are short, so a restart costs little.
On a laptop, keyboard movement is more precise than touch for tight jumps.
