Market Sort — Play Free Online

Market Sort is a tidy-up puzzle set in a messy marketplace. Fresh produce, cuts of meat and loose boxes arrive on a grid, and your job is to group matching items and pack them into crates so every order is filled. The pressure comes from the grid itself: if it fills up before you finish packing, the round is over.

It is a calm, thinking-first game rather than a reflex test, which makes it a good change of pace on a site built around Doodle Jump. Where a jumper asks for constant motion, this one rewards stopping to look at the whole board and planning two or three placements ahead. A session fits comfortably into a few spare minutes, and it runs right in the browser with nothing to install.

How to play

Use the mouse to aim and select items, or tap and swipe on a phone. The page also lists the arrow keys or WASD for movement. Pick up an item, place it where it groups with its own kind, and when a set is complete it gets packed into a crate and clears space. Keep an eye on the orders, since they tell you which goods you actually need to finish.

A round is a race between space and orders. Every item you place takes up room, so the aim is to make each placement count toward a finished crate instead of just parking things wherever they fit.

Tips

1. Read the current orders before you place anything, so you know which goods matter most.
2. Keep like items together. Scattered singles are what clog a grid.
3. Do not fill the edges and corners with odd items early on; leave yourself room to manoeuvre.
4. Use the first few rounds to get a feel for how items stack before you try to rush.

Market Sort suits players who like sorting and packing puzzles, short sessions, and playing with either a mouse or a touchscreen.
