Woody Sort — Play Free Online

Woody Sort is a sorting puzzle from the Puzzle & Brain shelf, published through Poki. It is a quiet change of pace on a site built around Doodle Jump: nothing here chases you, nothing falls off the bottom of the screen, and a mistake costs you a moment of thought rather than a run.

Sorting puzzles reward patience. You look at the board, work out where things need to end up, and make your moves in an order that does not trap you. A session fits a few minutes at a time, which is why this kind of game pairs well with the high-score chasing you do elsewhere on the site.

It runs in the browser with nothing to install, on desktop or on a phone.

How to play

On a computer, the game lists the arrow keys or WASD for movement and the mouse for aiming and selecting. In practice the mouse is the quickest way to pick things and place them. On a phone or tablet, tap to select and swipe where the game asks for it.

Read each level before you touch anything. The in-game prompts explain the goal for that stage better than any summary can, and the rules may be introduced a step at a time.

Tips

• Plan two or three moves ahead instead of reacting to the first obvious one.
• If you feel boxed in, stop and look at which of your last moves caused it. A restart is often faster than untangling a bad position.
• On a touch screen, use deliberate taps so you do not select the wrong item.
