Stupid Zombies — Play Free Online

Stupid Zombies is a physics puzzle shooter, not a runner. Each level drops a few zombies into a small scene full of walls, platforms and obstacles, and hands you a short supply of bullets. Your job is to clear every zombie before the ammo runs out, and the trick is that the bullets bounce.

That ricochet is the whole game. A straight shot at the nearest zombie is rarely the answer; the satisfying solution is the one where a single bullet skims off a wall, drops onto a ledge and takes out two targets at once. A level usually lasts under a minute once you see the angle, which makes it a good fit for a quick break between longer runs on a site otherwise full of jumpers and platformers.

If you came to Doodle Jump for its one-more-try pull, you will recognise it here. The difference is that failure is quiet and thoughtful rather than a sudden fall: you restart, adjust the angle slightly and try again.

How to play

Aim with the mouse and click to fire; the shot leaves your character in the direction you point. On a phone or tablet, touch and drag to aim and release or tap to shoot. The keyboard prompts on the page (arrow keys or WASD) are mostly for menus, because the real work is done with the pointer.

Before firing, look at the whole scene. Work out which surfaces a bullet can bounce off, where zombies are standing relative to them, and whether anything in the level is meant to be knocked over or set off. Fire, watch where the bullet actually travels, then correct. Most levels reward the solution that uses the fewest bullets, so a clear that burns your whole supply is a pass but not the best result.

Tips

• Trace the bounce in your head first. Pick the last wall the bullet should touch and work backwards to your aim point.
• Make small adjustments between attempts. A slightly different angle often changes where a ricochet ends up by a lot.
• Look for shots that hit more than one zombie in a line, since that saves ammo.
• If you are stuck, restart rather than spend the last bullets on a bad position. A fresh attempt is free.
