Endless Runners

Guide your runner through 3D space tunnels and rotate gravity to clear gaps. Play Run 2 free online in your browser without downloads.

What is Run 2?

Run 2 is a fast-paced 3D platform runner created by Joseph Cloutier. Players guide an agile character through a network of suspended cosmic tunnels where falling off a platform sends you drifting into outer space. What distinguishes the game is its dynamic perspective: moving onto any perpendicular wall instantly flips the orientation of the tunnel, turning walls into floors and opening alternate routes around hazards. The game runs directly in your web browser with no download required.

Key features

  • Dynamic gravity shifting: Moving onto a wall automatically reorients the camera and converts that surface into your new running floor.
  • Distinct character roster: Play as either the nimble Runner for controlled jumps or the rapid Skater for long-distance leaping momentum.
  • Complex tunnel geometry: Navigate segmented pathways filled with disappearing tiles, sudden drop-offs, and multi-sided tracks.
  • Immediate restarts: Falling off a platform quickly resets your position at the start of the section without delay.
  • Progressive difficulty: Each consecutive stage introduces tighter platform gaps and faster obstacle sequences.
  • Browser-native performance: Built to run smoothly across desktop and mobile browsers without third-party plugins.

How to play

  1. Choose between the Runner and the Skater on the main screen to set your preferred movement style.
  2. Steer across the tunnel floor using the left and right arrow keys or WASD.
  3. Time your jumps over gaps and missing floor tiles using the up arrow key or spacebar.
  4. Run onto adjacent side walls to rotate the course when the forward floor is broken or obstructed.
  5. Reach the exit zone at the end of the tunnel to finish the stage and unlock the next challenge.

Tunnel rotation and character physics

Success in Run 2 relies on mastering momentum and spatial awareness. The floating tunnels are four-sided corridors suspended in space, but large sections of floor are frequently missing. Whenever your character steps onto a side wall, the entire world rotates ninety degrees, transforming that wall into the active floor. This mechanic allows you to bypass massive gaps on your current path by shifting over to an intact wall before you reach the edge.

Each character interacts with this system differently. The Runner maintains steady deceleration and snappy turning, making this character ideal for tight corridors and precision landing pads. The Skater travels at a much higher base velocity and glides farther through the air, allowing you to skip entire sections of broken flooring at the cost of requiring quicker reflexes on narrow paths.

Tips and strategy

  • Scan ahead for continuous paths: Always watch the walls ahead rather than staring directly at your character so you can anticipate missing floor tiles early.
  • Use the Runner on intricate stages: When a level features narrow tiles and quick directional shifts, the Runner provides superior steering accuracy.
  • Deploy the Skater for wide chasms: The Skater's enhanced jump distance lets you clear long stretches of empty space that would otherwise require multiple wall transfers.
  • Stay centered on narrow strips: Running down the center of a platform prevents accidental wall transitions during minor steering corrections.
  • Initiate wall transfers early: Shift onto the adjoining surface well before reaching a pitfall so your character lands securely before the floor drops out.

Game modes

Runner levels

The standard campaign tailored for measured navigation, focusing on precise jumps, sharp turns, and steady spatial navigation.

Skater levels

A high-velocity alternative track tailored for the Skater, featuring expansive chasms and floating landing strips that reward aggressive jumping.

Versions and similar games

Run 2 built upon the foundation established in the original Run title and eventually led to the expansive sequel Run 3. If you enjoy reflex-driven browser games on this site, several companion titles offer similar challenges:

  • Doodle Jump: A vertical platformer where you guide a character upward across bouncing platforms instead of traveling forward through 3D tunnels.
  • OvO game: A fast 2D parkour platformer that tests your sliding, wall-jumping, and timing mechanics through obstacle-filled courses.
  • Helix Jump: A rotational reflex game where you guide a bouncing ball down through gaps in a descending cylindrical tower.

Developer and history

Run 2 was developed by independent game creator Joseph Cloutier as the follow-up to his breakout web platformer. Originally created for web portals during the Flash gaming era, the title has been updated for HTML5 environments so players can experience its cosmic tunnel mechanics directly in modern web browsers.

Questions about Run 2

How do you switch walls in Run 2?

Steer your character toward the left or right edge of the current platform. When you touch the adjacent wall, gravity shifts automatically so that wall becomes your new floor.

What is the difference between the Runner and the Skater?

The Runner moves at a moderate pace with precise turning control, making tight platforming easier. The Skater moves significantly faster and covers wider jumps with higher momentum.

Can you play Run 2 on mobile devices and Chromebooks?

Yes, Run 2 runs directly inside modern web browsers using HTML5 technology. It works smoothly on desktop computers, Chromebooks, and mobile devices using keyboard or touch inputs.
