Power Blocks — Play Free Online
Puzzle & BrainPower Blocks is a free puzzle with 60 levels of fitting blocks of different shapes into the field, playable in your browser.
Power Blocks is a shape-fitting puzzle. You are handed blocks of different shapes and asked to fill the playing field with them, with no gaps and nothing left over. It is a slow, thinking game rather than a reflex one, which makes it an unusual neighbour on a site built around Doodle Jump's quick, twitchy hops.
The game is organised as a run of 60 levels. Early boards are small and forgiving, and later ones give you more awkward pieces, so the satisfaction comes from spotting the one arrangement that works. There is no timer pushing you along, so a level lasts as long as you want to think about it.
It suits a different mood from the rest of the catalogue. If a few rounds of jumping have left you wanting something calmer, this is a good change of pace, and it loads in the browser with nothing to install.
How to play
Move with the arrow keys or WASD, and use the mouse to aim and select. On a phone or tablet, tap and swipe instead. In practice you pick up a block, position it over the field and place it where you think it belongs. The level is complete when the field is full.
Look at the whole board before you commit to anything. Each placement changes which shapes can still fit, so a piece that seems harmless early on can strand a gap later.
Tips
- Start with the awkward pieces. Corners, narrow gaps and odd shapes have the fewest places to go, so deal with them first and leave the simple squares and bars for last.
- Fill from the edges inward. Gaps along a wall or in a corner are the hardest to fix later.
- Count the empty cells and compare them with the total size of your remaining blocks. If the numbers do not match, you have misread the board.
- If you get stuck, restart the level rather than shuffling blindly. A fresh attempt with a different first piece is usually faster.
Similar games on Doodle Jump
Power Blocks is the quiet one here. Doodle Jump itself is all about steady vertical climbing and timing, Helix Jump is about guiding a ball down a tower, and Fireboy and Watergirl is the closest cousin for puzzle fans, since it asks you to plan a route through each room, though it adds two characters and some platforming.
It works well for short breaks or longer sessions alike, and it is equally comfortable with a mouse or a touchscreen.
