Brain Test: Tricky Words is a word puzzle built around anagrams and riddle-style clues. Each level gives you a prompt and a set of letters, and your job is to work out the answer and unscramble the letters into place. The look is cartoonish and light, but the levels are written to mislead you a little, so the first answer that comes to mind is not always the right one.

It is a very different pace from the rest of Doodle Jump. There is no height to climb and no reflex to test; a session is a string of short, quiet puzzles you can drop in and out of. If you like a break from platform jumping, this is the shelf to browse. It runs in the browser with nothing to install.

How to play

This is a point-and-select game. Use the mouse to pick and place letters, or tap on a phone or tablet. The page lists arrow keys and WASD as well, but most of the play is aiming at letters and choosing them, so a mouse or touchscreen is what you will mostly use.

Read the clue first, then look at the letters on offer. Decide what word fits the clue, check that it can be spelled with those letters, and then select them in order. If a level feels impossible, reread the clue. In this style of game the wording is often the trick.

Tips

Look for common endings and beginnings in the letter pool, such as -ING, -ED, or TH, and build the word around them.
If you are stuck on a clue, work out which letters cannot be part of the answer. Removing the odd ones out often shows the word.
Take your time. Nothing here is a race, and stepping away for a minute is a legitimate strategy.
