Most games on Doodle Jump are about reflexes: bounce higher, land cleaner, don't fall. Grandma's Delicious Cakes is the opposite pace. It is a creepy point-and-click puzzle game from FM Studio, set in the Forgotten Hill universe, and nothing in it is timed. You think, click, and try things.

You play an exterminator sent to clear rodents out of a strange house. The owner is an old woman who bakes cakes, and as the title hints, the job turns out to be stranger than it sounds. The game is a sequence of rooms, objects and riddles, and the unsettling mood is as much the draw as the puzzles.

It suits the quiet moments between rounds of a jumper: a session is a handful of minutes of poking around, and you can stop whenever you like. It runs in the browser with nothing to install.

How to play

This is a point-and-click game, so the mouse does nearly everything. Click objects of interest to pick them up; they go into your inventory. Then select an item from the inventory and click it on another item, a door or a spot in the scene to use it. On a phone or tablet the same actions are taps. Keyboard movement is not how this game works, whatever a generic controls line might suggest.

There is a built-in hint feature if a puzzle has you stuck, so you do not have to leave the page to find a walkthrough.
