Sumo Party is a small physics brawler built around one idea: shove everyone else out of the ring before they shove you. Your wrestler is a wobbly cartoon sumo, the arena is a circular platform, and a match ends when only one fighter is still standing on it. There are no combos or special moves to learn, so a round takes a minute or less and the next one starts straight away.

It suits the quick-restart rhythm of Doodle Jump. You fail fast, you see exactly what went wrong, and you want one more go. The difference is that the danger here is sideways, not downward: the edge of the platform is the thing to respect.

It runs in the browser on desktop or phone with nothing to install, and it works as a solo game against others or as a shared-screen party game.

How to play

Movement is deliberately simple. On desktop, hold W to move your wrestler forward. On a phone, hold the button in the corner of the screen. Because you only push ahead, steering and timing matter more than button skill: you decide when to charge by choosing what your wrestler is facing and when you hold the key.

The game also supports several players on one keyboard. Player one holds W, player two holds A, player three holds the slash key, and player four holds P. Each player has a single key, so everyone can fit around the same keyboard.

Crash into an opponent to knock them back, and avoid letting them hit you while you are near the edge. Last wrestler inside the circle wins the match.

Tips

• Stay toward the centre early. The rim is where most knockouts happen, so let others crowd it first.
• Do not hold the move key constantly. Charging at full speed past a rival can carry you over the edge by yourself.
• Pick on wrestlers who are already close to the rim; a light hit finishes them with little risk to you.
• In a local game, agree on the order of keys first so nobody ends up mashing the wrong one.
