Critter Chaos is an action and shooting game from Poki that runs straight in the browser. You move around an arena with the keyboard, aim with the mouse and fight whatever the game throws at you. Nothing needs installing, and a session can be as short as you like.

On a site built around Doodle Jump, it is a change of pace. Doodle Jump is about one-button climbing and not falling. Critter Chaos asks you to keep moving while you aim, so you read the screen in a different way. If you have worn out the jumpers and want something more hands-on, this is a reasonable next click.

How to play

• Move first and aim second. Keep your position safe before you worry about lining up a shot.
• Pick WASD or the arrow keys and stay with it. Switching between them mid-round costs you time.
• Click the fullscreen option if the game offers one, so targets are bigger and easier to track.
