Blumgi Castle — Play Free Online

Blumgi Castle is a physics shooter where the monsters sit on platforms and you knock them off. Each level is a small arena of ledges with creatures standing on them, and your job is to remove every one, either by sending it off the edge or by dropping it into the water below. It is a puzzle of angles and force more than a test of reflexes.

A level usually takes a minute or two, and most of that is working out which shot does the most damage. If you came to Doodle Jump for quick, repeatable attempts and a "one more go" feeling, this scratches the same itch with explosions instead of platforms.

The game was made by Blumgi, a French studio that also made Blumgi Ball and Blumgi Rocket, and it runs in the browser with nothing to install.

How to play

On a keyboard in single-player, aim with A and D or the left and right arrow keys. Hold the spacebar to charge a shot and release it to fire, so how long you hold decides how far it goes. A second player can join on the same keyboard, aiming with E and R or the arrow keys and holding and releasing A or the spacebar to shoot. Phones and tablets are supported too.

You are not limited to one weapon. The arsenal includes buzzsaws, dynamite, laser beams and even a teleporting basketball, and each behaves differently. Clear every creature to finish the level. As you advance, new playable characters unlock every few levels.

Tips

• Watch the edges. A monster on a thin ledge needs a nudge, not a direct hit, so pick the weapon that pushes rather than the one that does the most damage.
• Try different tools on the same level. The game rewards creative destruction rather than one right answer, so a failed attempt tells you something.
• Judge your charge time. Short taps are for nearby targets, and a long hold is for the far side of the arena.
