Jacksmith — Play Free Online
Action & ShootingCraft weapons at the forge in Jacksmith, a mouse-driven crafting and strategy game from Flipline Studios. Play free in your browser.
Jacksmith is not a jumper or a shooter, whatever the genre label on this page says. It is a crafting and strategy game where you run a forge: soldiers need weapons, and you make them. You heat the metal, hammer it into shape and fit the handle, and the quality of your work decides how well the weapon performs when it is used in battle.
That makes it a calmer pick than most of what sits next to Doodle Jump on this site. There is no falling to avoid and no clock-driven panic in the first few minutes. It is a hands-on, step-by-step job, and the satisfaction comes from doing each step carefully. If you like the repeat-and-improve feel of a game where each attempt can be a little better than the last, this is the same itch scratched in a different way.
Jacksmith was made by Flipline Studios, the team better known for the Papa's series of restaurant games, and the same style of small, tactile, step-by-step tasks shows up here. It runs in the browser with nothing to install.
How to play
The whole game is played with the mouse. Poki's own instructions for it say just that: use the mouse to build your weapons. You click and drag your way through each stage of making a weapon, working through the forging, the shaping and the handle in turn. A phone or tablet build works by touch in the same way, though a mouse gives you finer control.
Note that the keyboard controls you may see mentioned elsewhere for action games, such as arrow keys or WASD, are not how this one works. If nothing happens when you press keys, that is normal; use the pointer.
Tips
- Take each stage slowly. The better the weapon you make, the stronger it is, so rushing the forging or shaping costs you later in the battle.
- Watch what the game is asking for at each step before you click. Each stage has its own task, and the prompts tell you what to do next.
- Treat early rounds as practice. Learn what a good result looks like at every step, then aim to repeat it.
Similar games on Doodle Jump
If you want something with more movement, Doodle Jump itself and Helix Jump are quick, one-input arcade games where the challenge is timing rather than patience. Fireboy and Watergirl is a better match if you like thinking through a problem, and it can be played by two people on one keyboard. For another game that mixes strategy with action, Bloons Tower Defense 2 asks you to plan your setup before the pressure rises.
Jacksmith suits short, relaxed sessions with a mouse, when you want to make something rather than dodge something.
