Draft Wars is less a shooter than a strategy game wearing a battle skin. Each round you draft your army instead of steering it: you pick a leading hero, choose a formation, and send troops toward the enemy, then watch how your choices hold up against theirs. The thinking happens before the fighting does.

How to play

The input is simple: click or tap to make a choice. The arrow keys, WASD and mouse aiming that you may see mentioned elsewhere do not apply, because you never move a character around directly. Your job is to choose well.

The loop goes like this. Pick a leading hero, set up your formation, and deploy units round by round to protect your base while pushing to destroy the enemy's. The game has several modes with different characters, so the right pick in one mode may not be right in another.

Tips

• Read what the opponent has fielded before you commit. A pick that counters their units is worth more than a pick that merely looks strong.
• Do not spend everything on the first round. Your base has to survive the rounds that follow too.
• If a mode keeps beating you, try a different hero or formation instead of repeating the same draft.
