Mutiny is a pirate-themed cannon duel. Two crews face each other across the water, and the goal is to sink the other ship, or grab the treasure, before the other side manages it. Matches are short and built around one decision at a time: how hard to pull back, which angle to take, and when to spend a weapon you only have a few of.

It sits a little apart from the jumpers and runners that make up most of Doodle Jump's catalogue. There is no endless climb and no reflex scramble. Instead it plays like a turn-feeling artillery game, closer in spirit to a slow aim-and-release puzzle than to an action shooter, which makes it a calm change of pace after a few frantic rounds of Doodle Jump.

It runs in the browser with nothing to install, and a round is quick enough to fit between other games.

How to play

Shooting is done with the mouse: hold the left button, drag to set your aim and power, and release to fire. Some listings of the game also mention arrow keys or WASD for moving and tapping on a phone, but the mouse is the part that matters for firing, so start there.

Each round you are trying to protect your own vessel, repair damage when you can, and get to the treasure before your opponent does. Extra weapons are available in limited quantities, so they work best as a way to finish a ship that is already hurt, not as an opening move.

Tips

Spend your first shots finding the range. Watch where the cannonball lands, then adjust a little instead of changing everything.
Keep the limited weapons for a moment that decides the round, such as an enemy ship that is already damaged.
Do not ignore repairs. A ship that is nearly sunk can lose even if you are landing hits.
Use fullscreen if the aiming feels fiddly; a bigger view makes small angle changes easier to judge.
