Mining In Notebook 2 — Play Free Online

Arcade & Skill

Mining In Notebook 2 is a notebook-style idle clicker where you dig for resources and grow a village — free to play in your browser.

Mining In Notebook 2 is an idle clicker that looks like it was drawn in the margin of a school exercise book. It is the sequel to Mining in Notebook, and the "(Colony)" in its full title tells you what changed: alongside the digging there is now a village to build, so every chunk of ore you pull out goes toward growing a little settlement. Vad Games released it in February 2021.

A run begins with plain clicking. Click or tap the mining area and each hit digs out resources; those resources are the currency for everything that follows. The first few minutes are hands-on, but the point of the genre is to hand the work over. You spend your haul on instruments — the mining tools that keep digging for you — and sink the rest into expanding the village. After a while the loop runs itself, and the satisfaction shifts from fast clicking to watching the numbers climb.

That slow, leave-it-running rhythm is the opposite of Doodle Jump's split-second hops, which is exactly why the two games sit comfortably next to each other here. This is the tab you keep open when you want something gentle ticking away while you do something else.

How to play

The controls are as simple as it gets: mouse only on a computer, screen taps on a phone or tablet. Click or tap to extract resources, then open the shop to buy your next instrument. Each instrument you own adds to your passive income, so the more you buy, the faster the village grows with no further input. There is no fail state, no lives and no timer — the only real decision is where to spend your next batch of resources.

Tips

  • Buy the cheap instruments first. A handful of small upgrades out-earns one expensive one early on, and they get your passive income rolling faster.
  • Reinvest rather than hoard. In an idle game, unspent resources are doing nothing, so spend them as soon as you can afford the next step.
  • Check back and spend in bursts. The game shines when you leave it to accumulate and return to a full pile of resources waiting to be spent.
