Hangman — Play Free Online
Puzzle & BrainGuess the hidden word one letter at a time before the drawing is complete. Play Hangman free in your browser with mouse or touch, no download.
Hangman is the pencil-and-paper word game turned into a quick browser puzzle. A word is chosen and hidden behind a row of blanks, and you guess it one letter at a time. Each correct letter fills in every place it appears; each wrong one adds a piece to the hanging figure. Reveal the whole word before the drawing is finished and you win the round.
It is a very different pace from the rest of Doodle Jump. There is no scrolling, no timing and nothing to dodge, so it suits the moments between jumpers when you want something calmer that still gives your brain a job. A round lasts a minute or two, and you can stop whenever you like.
How to play
Hangman is a point-and-select puzzle. Use the mouse to aim at a letter and click it, or tap it on a phone. The listed controls also mention the arrow keys and WASD, which are there for builds that let you step through the options by keyboard. Pick a letter and the game either places it in the word or counts it as a miss.
A round goes like this: look at the number of blanks, choose a letter, read what the board tells you, and use the pattern that appears to guess again. Early guesses are about probability. Later ones are about spotting a word from the letters you have already revealed.
Tips
- Start with common vowels, usually E and A, then O and I. Most English words contain at least one of them, so they reveal structure fast.
- After the vowels, try frequent consonants such as R, S, T, N and L before reaching for rare letters like Q, Z or X.
- Think about word shapes. A blank at the end after a revealed E could be D or S, and a gap before a revealed ING is a short stem. Guess letters that fit these patterns.
- Do not use up your misses on long shots. Rare letters are best saved for when only one or two candidate words are left.

If you want another way to exercise your head, Hangman sits in the puzzle and brain shelf, away from the platform games the site is known for. Fireboy and Watergirl asks you to solve temple puzzles with two characters, which is more physical but just as much about planning. Bloons Tower Defense 2 is a strategy game where you think about placement rather than letters. For something fast after a puzzle, Doodle Jump itself and Helix Jump bring back the reflex-based play.
Hangman works well for short sessions, for passing a phone around so that one person thinks of the words, or for a break between harder games. It runs in the browser with nothing to install.
