Apple Knight: Mini Dungeons is a small, pixel-styled action game where you guide a knight through compact dungeon rooms and fight your way through whatever lives in them. It is an action title rather than a pure platformer, so the pace is set by how quickly you read a room, pick your moment and strike, not by how far you can jump.

It is a different flavour from most of what Doodle Jump fans come here for. Instead of one endless climb, a session is a series of short, self-contained encounters, which makes it easy to play for five minutes or for an hour. It loads straight in the browser, with nothing to install and no account.

How to play

Move with the arrow keys or WASD, and use the mouse to aim and to pick things in menus. On a phone or tablet the game uses taps and swipes instead, so a keyboard is helpful but not required.

Each room is a small puzzle of positioning. Work out where threats come from, keep moving, and attack when an enemy has committed to a move rather than while it is still approaching. Stopping in the open is the quickest way to lose health.

Tips

• Clear enemies one at a time where you can; backing toward a wall or doorway stops you getting surrounded.
• Keep an eye on your health before entering the next room, not after.
• On mouse and keyboard, keep one hand on the movement keys and let the mouse do the aiming so you never stop moving to attack.
• If a room keeps beating you, change your approach to its layout rather than repeating the same rush.
